On October 27, 2026, Mieko Nakabayashi, President of the Tokyo Foundation, met with William Chou, Senior Fellow and Deputy Director of Hudson Institute’s Japan Chair. Hudson Institute is a leading Washington, DC-based think tank that focuses on national security, foreign policy, and economic policy, and works closely with US policymakers to develop policy recommendations.

The discussion covered challenges shared by Japan and the United States, including economic security, as well as the impact of Japan’s declining and aging population on its workforce and national defense.

The Tokyo Foundation will continue to deepen its dialogue with international partners and draw on these exchanges in its policy research and recommendations.
