Bio
Is a professor in the Faculty of Global Informatics, Chuo University; a project professor and director of the ELSI Center, Chuo University; specially appointed professor in the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies, University of Tokyo; and emeritus professor, University of Tokyo. Was a professor in the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies, University of Tokyo (April 2000- March 2020), dean of the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies, University of Tokyo (April 2012- March 2015), and director of the Center for Research and Development of Higher Education, University of Tokyo (April 2016- March 2020). Has also been a member of the OECD Global Science Forum Expert Group (2014-2016), member of the AI Group of experts at the OECD (so-called AIGO) (2018-2019), member of the OECD Network of AI Experts (so-called ONE AI) (2020-), member of UNESCO’s Ad Hoc Expert Group for Ethics of AI (2020), member of the WG for Responsible AI in Global Partnership on AI (so called GPAI) (June 2020-).
