The decline in the number of births of Japanese is not stopping. An article in the online version of the Nikkei newspaper on Nov. 24, 2023 reported a private estimate that sees the number of births of Japanese people in 2023 to be at the lower 700,000 level, setting an historical low for the eighth consecutive year.
