TF-Acumen Global Fellows Program

Established in 2001 in New York, Acumen is a non-profit global venture fund that uses entrepreneurial approaches to address the problem of global poverty. Identifying with these goals, the Tokyo Foundation has initiated a partnership, soliciting applicants in Japan. Acumen global fellows undergo a 12-month program at an Acumen investee organization, primarily in Asia and Africa, applying their financial and operational skills, experience in low-income markets, and moral imagination to address critical business issues facing the organization. Fellows from Japan have included Chikako Fujita (2010–11) and Junko Tashiro (2012-13), whose dispatches appear here.
