Retail Finance Policy (2009-10)

Active Years: 2009-2010

The global economic downturn sparked by the financial crisis that struck the United States in the fall of 2008 has had a dramatic effect on Japanese finance (loans to individuals and small businesses). The credit crunch affecting the entire economy has made it difficult for companies to raise funds and for individuals to repay loans. With the economic situation fluctuating almost daily, there is a need for timely and appropriate policy responses. We will issue comprehensive policy proposals in a systematic manner, with a particular focus on housing and small-business loans.
