Nippon Foundation Funds for Japanese Language Education Program (NF-JLEP)
NF-JLEP at University of Bucharest is a very successful program that consists mainly of scholarships and fellowships for undergraduate students, graduate students, and teachers of the Japanese Language Section. The program also includes financial support for the maintenance and enrichment of the library of the Japanese section.
From 2007, 15 outstanding undergraduate students and eight graduate students and teachers have been receiving scholarships every year that enable them to pursue their study in Romania. Due to this support the students are highly motivated in learning Japanese and Japanese culture.
Graduate students and teachers who work on projects in the Japanese studies field also receive fellowships to go and do research in Japan. This is a great opportunity that contributes greatly to the education of young researchers in the field of Japanese studies in Romania. Due to the NF-JLEP program the University of Bucharest was able to establish the first master's course focusing on Japan in Romania.
