Bio

Awarded a master’s degree in international economy and international relations by the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Johns Hopkins University, and a PhD in international public policy by Osaka University. Became the director of policy studies and senior fellow at the National Institute for Research Advancement (NIRA) and a senior fellow at the Japan Foundation before assuming her present position. Is concurrently a member of the International Advisory Board of the EU-Asia Centre in Brussels and co-editor of Global Governance magazine. Has also been a visiting professor at the University of British Columbia and is a member of Prime Minister Abe’s Advisory Panel on National Security and Defense Capabilities.
